In addition to focusing on education, Customs is also actively supporting national exports through various activities, one of which was participating in the East Java Export Festival 2024 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Surabaya on Wednesday, August 7. This festival is a collaboration between the East Java Provincial Government, the Ministry of Finance, and the Indonesia Eximbank (LPEI) to boost exports. Nangkok P. Pasaribu, the Head of the Compliance Guidance and Public Relations Section at the East Java Regional Office I of Customs, stated that during the festival, East Java Regional Office I, along with other agencies, played an active role in providing services and information to export-oriented business players.
The festival opened with Business Matching involving 10 MSMEs present at the event, followed by a talk show on "Strategies to Expand Export Markets" featuring speakers from the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Finance, and LPEI. The Acting Governor of East Java, Adhy Karyono, also attended to present awards to festival participants in categories such as Export Potential Village, Export-Oriented MSME Support Institutions, and Export-Oriented MSME Support Companies. One of the awardees was BUMDesma Singosari LKD, a Customs Malang-supported MSME, which won in the Export Potential Village category. The festival concluded with the dispatch of five trucks loaded with export products, including orchids valued at USD6,541 destined for the United States, spiced chocolate worth USD37,500 destined for Japan, rattan crafts worth USD16,200 also destined for Japan, rice husk charcoal worth USD30,000 destined for South Korea, and Richwell Biscuit products worth USD8,247.20 destined for Thailand. Nangkok emphasized that this export festival is expected to enhance inter-agency and institutional synergy to support domestic products in competing internationally.
