The Upstream Oil and Gas Special Task Force (SKK Migas) has reported that over the past two decades, the upstream oil and gas industry has become the second-largest contributor to state revenue after taxes, with a total contribution of IDR 5,045 trillion. Hudi D. Suryodipuro, Head of the Program and Communication Division at SKK Migas, emphasized the organization's continuous efforts to explore and develop new oil and gas reserves. As a result, SKK Migas has maintained a Reserve Replacement Ratio (RRR) above 100% for six consecutive years. Hudi highlighted the completion of major projects such as the Jangkrik Field, the Jambaran Tiung Biru Field, and Tangguh Train 3. Since 2012, domestic gas supply has surpassed exports, a strategic move aimed at strengthening national energy security. The upstream oil and gas activities, including drilling and project execution, have also created significant multiplier effects, with a Domestic Component Level (TKDN) of 58% and employment for 150,000 workers.
In celebration of Indonesia's 79th Independence Day, Hudi pointed out that the industry has made substantial contributions to the nation, particularly through successful exploration activities in Geng North, Layaran, and Tangkulo. These discoveries have positioned Indonesia as a leader in exploration findings in Southeast Asia over the past two years, showcasing the promising subsurface potential of the country. Additionally, efforts to boost oil production through the Banyu Urip Infill Clastic (BUIC) project have been fruitful. The first well, B-13, began producing oil on 9 August 2024, and the 1,000th shipment of crude oil from the Banyu Urip Field has recently been completed. SKK Migas anticipates that the remaining six wells from the BUIC project will soon follow, further enhancing national oil production.
