Subang Coffee Expands into UAE Market with Major Export Success

Coffee from Subang, West Java, has successfully entered the United Arab Emirates (UAE) market with an impressive export of 311.4 tons, valued at USD 2.04 million. This milestone was achieved through a business matching initiative organized by the Directorate General of National Export Development in collaboration with Bappebti last month in Jakarta. The export of Subang coffee, facilitated through the Warehouse Receipt System (SRG), was officially dispatched by Bappebti on 15 August at the Gunung Luhur Berkah (GLB) Producers Cooperative in Subang. The event was attended by key figures, including Heryono Hadi Prasetyo, Head of the SRG Development Bureau, and other regional and industry representatives.

Kasan, Head of Bappebti, highlighted that this contract represents a 308.7% increase in coffee exports compared to 2023, with the addition of both robusta and arabica varieties this year. Kasan praised GLB Producers Cooperative for their continued success in exporting Subang SRG coffee to global markets, including previous exports to Egypt, Lebanon, the United States, and Saudi Arabia. The SRG warehouse system in Subang is set to become a model for other regions, emphasizing the need for professional management, warehouse revitalization, and enhanced collaboration among various stakeholders. Kasan stressed the importance of SRG in stabilizing commodity stock and supporting national economic growth. Miftahudin Shaf, Chairman of GLB Cooperative, expressed gratitude for Bappebti's facilitation, which played a crucial role in this export achievement. He also urged the government to continue organizing business matching events to connect local producers with international buyers.
