Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Sudaryono, announced an ambitious goal for Indonesia to become the world's leading exporter of agricultural commodities by 2025. Speaking at the 2025 RAPBN press conference in Jakarta on 16 August, he emphasized the government's plan to elevate the production of key agricultural commodities, including rice, corn, soybeans, various chilies, shallots, sugarcane, coconuts, cocoa, beef, buffalo meat, and poultry. To achieve this, the government will optimize the use of swamp lands, implement irrigation for rain-fed fields, and create new rice fields. Modernization of agricultural tools and the strengthening of agricultural extension services are also key strategies, with a focus on guiding farmers and advancing the downstream processing of agricultural commodities.

Sudaryono highlighted the long-term impact of the rice field creation program, projecting a 35-year benefit. The ultimate goal is not only self-sufficiency in rice production but also positioning Indonesia as a rice-exporting nation. He envisions rice becoming a crucial instrument of trade and diplomacy, enabling Indonesia to assist countries in need, including those affected by conflict. At the same event, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati emphasized that food security is a top priority for President-Elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-Elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The government has allocated IDR 124.4 trillion to enhance food security through initiatives such as land intensification and extension, strengthening agricultural infrastructure, providing fertilizer subsidies and seed assistance, establishing food reserves, and improving farmers' access to financing. Sri Mulyani reiterated that this significant budget reflects the government's commitment to ensuring national food security and supporting the agricultural sector's growth.
