July 2024: North Maluku's Export and Import Value Increases

In July 2024, the performance of Maluku Utara's exports and imports showed notable improvements compared to June 2024. According to Nurhidayat Maskat, Acting Head of the Maluku Utara Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the province's export value reached USD 884.94 million in July, marking a 3.07% increase from USD 858.56 million in June. Additionally, the volume of exports rose by 5.71% to 447,610 tons from 423,410 tons the previous month. The top export categories were iron and steel at USD 3.77 billion, nickel at USD 1.76 billion, and organic chemicals at USD 323.20 million. Major export destinations included China with USD 851.91 million, India with USD 32.35 million, and Vietnam with USD 0.53 million.

On the import side, Maluku Utara saw a 12.83% increase in import value, reaching USD 381.54 million in July, up from USD 338.14 million in June. The province imported goods primarily from China, the Philippines, Japan, the UAE, Canada, and Malaysia, with China being the largest source at USD 297.46 million. The volume of imports surged by 32.12% to 1,497,330 tons from 1,133,340 tons in June. Among the 43 categories of imported goods, machinery and mechanical appliances topped the list with an import value of USD 91.39 million.
