On August 17, 2024, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, held a discussion with creative economy actors on Pramuka Island in the Administrative District of the Thousand Islands through the Creative District/City (KaTa) program. This initiative aimed to gather insights and understand the challenges faced by those working in the creative economy sector. The discussion took place during a workshop at Resto Lapan Toejoe on Pramuka Island. Minister Sandiaga explained that the Thousand Islands had undergone the PMK3I assessment process and identified film, animation, and video as the leading subsectors. However, some participants expressed the need for support in other creative subsectors, such as intellectual property rights, promotional assistance, and the establishment of a creative hub to better market their products.
Minister Sandiaga also addressed the issue of employment on Pramuka Island, encouraging business owners to innovate using local resources, such as breadfruit, which could be developed into various culinary products. He highlighted the strong culinary appeal of the island, citing how some visitors travel by jet ski from Jakarta just to experience the local cuisine, indicating its significant attraction. Minister Sandiaga invited the residents of Jakarta to consider visiting the Thousand Islands for tourism, emphasizing its accessibility and the unique experiences it offers, such as diving and educational tours. He was accompanied by the Deputy for Destination and Infrastructure Development, Hariyanto, and the Director of Creative Economy Infrastructure, Oneng Setya Harini.
