Economic Growth Maintained, President: Higher Than Global Average Growth

On August 16, President Joko Widodo highlighted Indonesia's resilience. He emphasized that Indonesia has successfully navigated significant challenges over the past decade, including the COVID-19 pandemic, global geopolitical tensions, trade wars, and climate change-induced disasters. Despite these adversities, Indonesia's political and economic conditions have remained stable, with sustainable growth. President Jokowi pointed out that Indonesia's economic growth has consistently been around 5.0%, surpassing the global average growth rate of 3.4%.

President Jokowi further elaborated on Indonesia's economic achievements, noting that the country's export value increased by more than 70%, reaching USD 259 billion in 2023. The current account balance has gradually strengthened, with the trade balance recording a surplus for 51 consecutive months. Additionally, during the period from 2015 to 2024, 21.3 million new jobs were created, reducing the unemployment rate to 4.8% by 2024. Poverty levels also saw a sharp decline, with the poverty rate dropping to 9.03% in 2024, and extreme poverty decreasing significantly to 0.83% in the same year.
