Maluku Grouper Exports Reach IDR 48 Billion in First Half of 2024

The Ambon Office of the Agency for the Control and Supervision of Marine and Fisheries Products Quality (BPPMHKP) in Maluku reported that grouper exports from Maluku reached IDR 48 billion in the first half of 2024. This value was achieved from exporting 200,008 groupers over the past seven months, as stated by Hatta Arisandi, Head of BPPMHKP Ambon, on Monday. Hatta highlighted that this export value marks a 67% increase compared to the same period in 2023, which saw exports valued at IDR 29 billion from 121,811 groupers. Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia emerged as the largest importers of live Maluku fisheries products, with live grouper being highly sought after. In addition to groupers, other live fish commodities such as crabs, wrasses, and snappers also contributed significantly to Maluku's export value. Hatta attributed this success to the efforts in enhancing services and collaboration with relevant agencies.

The success of Maluku’s fisheries exports is a result of the hard work and commitment of BPPMHKP Ambon and related agencies such as Ambon Customs, the Maluku Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office, and the Maluku Industry and Trade Office. These organizations ensured ease of licensing and export services from Maluku. To expedite export services, BPPMHKP Ambon has introduced several public service innovations. These include a proactive outreach program to business operators through the Tatihu quick response team, a 24-hour export certification service, and the Fast Virtual Service System (Silapatua), which can reach all districts and cities in Maluku. This system supports the certification process for the implementation of the Integrated Quality Management Program (PMMT)/HACCP and the Good Fish Quarantine Practices (CKIB). These initiatives have greatly facilitated the export process, ensuring that Maluku’s fisheries products meet international standards and reach global markets efficiently.
