The Yogyakarta Regional Tourism Office is mapping the potential of creative economy and craft products developing in tourist villages across the province's districts and cities. Iwan Pramana, Head of the Creative Economy Development Division at the Yogyakarta Tourism Office (Dispar DIY), stated that their focus is on identifying and mapping creative economic potentials in each sub-district. He noted that almost every sub-district in DIY has tourist villages or rural-based tourism offering local potentials in natural tourism, arts, culture, and unique creative economies. DIY already boasts over 200 tourist villages, ranging from established and advanced to emerging ones. The Tourism Office will collect data on these villages and their creative products. This data will help facilitate certification for these products following competency-based training provided by the Tourism Office. For instance, batik is found in several locations, each with its distinct style. In Krebet Village, Bantul District, there is a unique wooden batik craft. The mapping effort also aims to enhance production, distribution, and marketing of creative economy products at tourist destinations. This integration will support tourism in DIY by adding value to intellectual property and promoting local products that complement the region’s tourism industry.
