Coal Dominates Bengkulu's Exports

In June 2024, Bengkulu's export value increased to USD 9.96 million, up by 6.97% compared to May 2024, which recorded USD 9.31 million. Of the total exports, USD 5.57 million (55.96%) were directed to ASEAN countries, while USD 4.39 million (44.04%) went to other countries. The largest export destinations were Cambodia with USD 4.29 million (43.13%), China with USD 3.61 million (36.30%), Malaysia with USD 1.28 million (12.83%), and other countries with USD 0.77 million (7.74%).

The main commodities exported from Bengkulu included coal to Cambodia and China, and coal and postal packages to Malaysia. Other commodities to various countries included coal, leeches, and insects. Bengkulu recorded a trade surplus of USD 9.96 million in June 2024, a decrease from the USD 22.82 million surplus in June 2023. The highest trade surplus in the period from June 2022 to June 2024 was USD 42.18 million in April 2022, while the lowest was USD 4.42 million in January 2022. Compared to June 2023, the trade surplus in June 2024 decreased by 56.37%, and compared to June 2022, it decreased by 70.00%.
