Maluku's Exports of Crude Oil, Fish, and Shrimp Surge to USD 16.12 Million

In June 2024, Maluku’s exports reached USD 16.12 million, marking a dramatic increase of approximately 2,393.37% compared to the previous month. The surge in export value was driven by both oil and non-oil commodities. According to Maritje Pattiwaelapia, Head of BPS Maluku, crude oil exports amounted to USD 11.22 million, while non-oil exports included grouper, tuna, live marine fish, live crabs, and other frozen aquatic species. From January to June 2024, Maluku's cumulative exports totaled USD 33.42 million, comprising USD 11.22 million from oil commodities and USD 22.20 million from non-oil products. The ASEAN region accounted for USD 0.59 million of Maluku's exports, directed towards Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam.

Exports to other Asian countries soared by approximately 2,298.93%, reaching USD 15.51 million, with China emerging as the largest destination at USD 15.14 million. Exports to Hong Kong, however, decreased by 57.18% to USD 0.28 million compared to the previous month. In June 2024, Maluku's exports were processed through three main ports: Yos Sudarso Port, Bula Port, and Pattimura Airport. Notably, Yos Sudarso Port experienced a substantial increase in export value, up 739.49% compared to May 2024. This significant rise in export values underscores Maluku's growing role in international trade, particularly in the sectors of crude oil, fish, and shrimp, and highlights the region's expanding economic potential.
