The Central Kalimantan Marine and Fisheries Office (Dislutkan Kalteng) is hopeful that the shrimp estate program can contribute to the national target of exporting 2 million tons of shrimp. "It is expected to contribute to the national shrimp export target for 2024, which is 2 million tons," said Head of Dislutkan Kalteng, Darliansjah, in a recent statement. Additionally, this program aims to meet the food needs of the new national capital (IKN) in East Kalimantan Province.
Darliansjah emphasized that Dislutkan has supported the management of the national shrimp industry, and existing shrimp farming areas mapped by the Ministry of Home Affairs are potential sites for shrimp farming activities. As background, the shrimp estate in Central Kalimantan is currently under development in the village of Sei Raja, Sukamara Regency, covering an area of approximately 40 hectares. This program is planned to be expanded to several other regencies in Central Kalimantan if its development proves successful.
