The Ministry of Trade supports the Indonesia Shopping Festival (ISF) from August 8-19, 2024, aiming to boost consumer spending, promote MSME products, and advance the Proudly Made in Indonesia (BBI) program. Initiated by the Indonesian Shopping Center Management Association (APPBI), ISF 2024 celebrates the 79th Anniversary of Indonesia and will take place nationwide in various shopping centers. Director General of Domestic Trade, Isy Karim, expressed hopes that ISF would involve MSMEs and support the long-term absorption of their products. The opening of ISF 2024 will be held at PIK Avenue, Jakarta, on August 8, 2024, with Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan and Acting Governor of Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono in attendance. The press conference also featured APPBI Chairman Alphonzus Widjaja, Deputy Chairman of Trade at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce Juan Permata Adoe, and Apindo Chairman Shinta Kamdani. Isy further emphasized the importance of creativity and product quality among Indonesian business actors to increase their presence in shopping centers. “The involvement of local business actors is expected to grow, filling a larger portion of products sold in shopping centers,” he added.
APPBI Chairman Alphonzus Widjaja stated that ISF 2024 aims to boost retail transactions and visitor numbers in shopping centers, contributing to national economic growth and sustainability. He highlighted APPBI's support for the national economy, particularly in retail, to foster national development towards a progressive Indonesia. During ISF 2024, exhibitions of domestic products and MSMEs will be featured in all shopping centers, with a traditional culinary festival at Posh Market Vol. 2 in Kota Kasablanka, Jakarta. Local fashion and MSME products will be showcased under the theme ‘Lokal Made’ at PIK Avenue, Jakarta, and traditional toys and food exhibitions will be held at Kampung Mainan Bocah in Living World Kota Wisata Cibubur, West Java. To celebrate independence, ISF 2024 will offer special discounts of up to 79%. The program is supported by Apindo, representing the Indonesian business sector. Shinta Kamdani noted that ISF 2024 embodies the spirit of supporting national economic growth, providing opportunities for retail and MSME players to advance and encouraging public shopping at local centers. “Initiatives like this are vital for strengthening domestic economic resilience,” Shinta explained.
