The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) has confirmed that it will not import milk for the free nutritious lunch program. Instead, the ministry plans to import over 5 million breeding cattle to support the program. Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Sudaryono, stated that these cattle will be bred using artificial insemination technology to meet the demand for both milk and beef. Currently, Kementan has 5.4 million eggs ready for insemination across 5.4 million breeding cattle.Kementan will bring in 5.4 million breeding cattle to be bred at the Artificial Insemination Support Centers in Lembang and Malang. The cattle will be injected with processed sperm using artificial insemination technology, where selected eggs will predominantly produce female cattle."Our reserve includes 5.4 million straws, meaning 5.4 million insemination units for 5 million breeding cattle. We aim to synchronize this process to achieve pregnancy in all the cattle simultaneously. We want to encourage political support for our nutritious food program, and we plan to include milk as one of the menu options. Therefore, we will focus on importing live cattle rather than milk," explained Sudaryono.
