Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan (Mendag Zulhas) announced the export of three containers of Nike-branded footwear worth IDR 6.50 billion to the European Union (EU) and the United States (US). The footwear products, produced by PT Selalu Cinta Indonesia (SCI), a member of the Karet Murni Kencana (KMK) Group, reflect the government's ongoing support for businesses and industries to enhance their export capabilities. Speaking at the export event in Salatiga, Zulkifli Hasan emphasized the importance of encouraging labor-intensive factories like this Nike producer to continue boosting exports. He noted that this export milestone demonstrates the successful collaboration between the government and the private sector in promoting export-oriented manufacturing industries as part of the global supply chain. Indonesia ranks as the world's sixth-largest footwear exporter, with export growth in this sector increasing by 13.13% over the past five years (2019-2023).
Minister Zulkifli Hasan also commended PT SCI for being the first international market shoe factory to expand to Central Java, employing nearly 20,000 workers and exporting products to 57 countries. He expressed gratitude to PT Selalu Cinta Indonesia, KMK Group, and Nike Indonesia for their partnership in enhancing the export of Indonesian footwear. The European Union remains a key destination for Indonesian footwear, with exports valued at USD 698 million from January to May 2024. The US is another major market, with Indonesian footwear exports reaching USD 914 million during the same period, marking a 19.43% increase compared to the same timeframe in 2023 and a 12.86% growth over the past five years (2019-2023). The global footwear export market continues to hold significant promise, with an annual revenue growth projection of 3.43% for the 2024-2028 period, and global annual revenues expected to reach USD 412 billion in 2024.
