To promote the growth of the domestic cosmetics industry, IndoBeauty Expo 2024 will once again be held at JIExpo, Kemayoran, Jakarta. This international cosmetics exhibition aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the Indonesian cosmetics sector in the global market. According to data from the National Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM), there has been a significant increase in the number of cosmetic businesses, rising from 819 in 2021 to 913 in 2022. This represents a growth rate of 20.6% in 2022. Daud D. Salim, Chief Executive Officer of Krista Exhibition, stated that the expo is designed to help the cosmetics industry compete internationally. IndoBeauty Expo 2024 will serve as a comprehensive platform to meet the substantial domestic market demand. "This year’s exhibition will feature 170 companies offering cosmetics, skincare products, fragrances, hair care products, and packaging equipment from over 12 countries," said Daud in a statement on Sunday, July 28, 2024.
Participating countries include New Zealand, China, South Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, India, Indonesia, and Taiwan. Additionally, over 30 domestic startups and local companies will showcase their beauty products. Daud noted that the cosmetics industry has grown by 43.11% from 2020 to 2023, contributing 6.8% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This positive trend is expected to continue as the beauty sector develops further each year. Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita highlighted that the cosmetics industry’s growth aligns with the rapid expansion of e-commerce in Indonesia. "It contributes 6.8% to the GDP of the manufacturing sector, following the food industry, which accounts for 17.2%," Agus added in his remarks.
