Minister of Industry : Indonesia's Manufacturing Value Added Reaches USD 255 Billion

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stated that Indonesia's Manufacturing Value Added (MVA) reached USD 255 billion, elevating Indonesia to the 12th position globally in manufacturing value. "According to World Bank data, Indonesia ranked 12th in the top manufacturing countries by value added in 2023, with an MVA of USD 255 billion," said Agus Gumiwang in Jakarta on Tuesday. This places Indonesia ahead of other ASEAN countries, such as Thailand and Vietnam, whose MVA values are only half of Indonesia’s, at USD 128 billion and USD 102 billion, respectively. He noted that Indonesia's MVA in 2023 increased by 36.4%, or USD 68 billion, from USD 187 billion in 2022, elevating Indonesia's rank from 14th in 2022 to 12th in 2023. This achievement is attributed to Indonesia's comprehensive and well-distributed manufacturing structure, providing higher value added compared to competitors. Agus emphasized the importance of continually enhancing the competitiveness of the manufacturing industry to maintain and improve this ranking.

The Ministry of Industry also reported stellar performance in the non-oil and gas processing sector in the first quarter of 2024, contributing 17.47% to the national GDP with a growth rate of 4.64% and accounting for 26.9% of tax revenues. Investment in the manufacturing sector during this period reached 38.73%, valued at IDR 155.5 trillion. In terms of exports, the non-oil and gas processing industry shipped products worth USD 91.65 billion in the first half of 2024, representing 73.27% of total national exports, with a workforce of 18.82 million people.
