The Indonesian Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has granted permits to three companies for lobster breeding and export, in collaboration with Vietnamese firms. Director General of Capture Fisheries, Tb. Haeru Rahayu, announced that these companies have established joint ventures in Indonesia and have been verified to undertake lobster breeding activities. The permits, issued under the Ministry's Regulation No. 7 of 2024, allow these companies to breed lobsters domestically and internationally. Haeru noted that two additional companies are still undergoing verification for lobster breeding activities. The verified companies, Mutagreen Aquaculture International, Ratuworld Aquaculture International, and Gajaya Aquaculture International, have partnered with Vietnamese firms, including Aquagreen Trading Company Limited and Phu Gia Long Trading Joint Stock Company, among others.
The permits are part of an effort to regulate and sustain lobster resources, with quotas based on the estimated potential of lobster seeds and allowable catch limits as per Ministerial Decree No. 28 of 2024. The quota data for lobster breeding can be accessed through the official KKP website or the Project Management Office 724 (PMO-724). This collaboration aims to enhance the sustainability and economic value of Indonesia's marine resources while ensuring compliance with national regulations. The partnership also reflects the growing interest in Indonesia's aquaculture potential, with strict measures in place to protect marine biodiversity.
