Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Holds Coordination Meeting with Associations to Draft Economic Policy Whitepaper

The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) held a coordination meeting to draft a whitepaper with business proposals for the 2024-2029 economic development program. The meeting was attended by hundreds of industry associations that are extraordinary members (ALB) of Kadin Indonesia. Chairman Arsjad Rasjid explained that Kadin is compiling the whitepaper with input from business actors, investors, and academics on strategic economic issues related to the country's five-year development plan. He emphasized the importance of Gotong Royong and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika principles and highlighted the meeting's role in fostering synergy among business players to support national economic development. Arsjad outlined three key focus areas for the whitepaper: optimizing strategic sectors for growth, strengthening national MSMEs, and improving middle-class welfare. These issues are crucial for achieving the goals of Indonesia Emas 2045. The whitepaper aims to support the 2025-2029 development program and the implementation of Asta Cita and 17 priority programs of President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

The meeting also included the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the Pilot Project Synergy of Associations between the Mall Association and eight supporting associations. Arsjad highlighted the growth in Kadin's membership, which has increased by 78% to 221 associations since he took office in 2021. Erik Hidayat, Chairman of the Indonesian Indigenous Entrepreneurs Association (HIPPI), praised Kadin for involving associations in drafting the whitepaper, which will guide the government in preparing work programs. Tasha Megananda, Chairperson of the Indonesian Catering Service Association (APJI), lauded Kadin's inclusive role in the formulation process. Founded in 1968 and legally established in 1987, Kadin Indonesia serves as the umbrella organization for all Indonesian chambers of commerce and business associations, including foreign chambers in Indonesia. Kadin's mission is to support vital, sustainable, and equitable economic growth. The organization represents the voice of the private sector and maintains close relationships with government officials to actively participate in business and economic reforms.
