Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan is working towards making Indonesia the global center of the halal industry and a hub for modest fashion. This goal was highlighted during the launch of Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) 2025 at the Ministry of Trade office in Jakarta on Wednesday, 17 July 2024. JMFW will take place from 9 to 12 October 2024 at ICE BSD, Tangerang, Banten, featuring 30 modest fashion brands. Zulkifli Hasan, commonly known as Zulhas, emphasized that JMFW is a strategic initiative to promote Indonesian modest fashion on the global stage. He noted that this event aligns with President Joko Widodo's directive to position Indonesia as the leading center for the halal industry and a global trendsetter in modest fashion.

Zulhas expressed confidence that Indonesia can dominate the global modest fashion market. However, he stressed that achieving this ambition requires collective effort from the Indonesian people, particularly in enforcing regulations against the influx of illegal products. He mentioned that the Ministry of Trade is coordinating with the National Police Chief and the Attorney General to address this issue. According to the State of the Global Islamic Economy (SGIE) report, Indonesia ranks third among 81 countries in terms of its Islamic economy. Zulhas is optimistic that with active public participation, Indonesia can realize its vision of becoming a developed nation by 2045. This initiative reflects Indonesia's broader economic strategy to leverage its cultural and religious strengths to boost economic growth and global influence in key industries.
