Indonesia aims to explore various opportunities to optimize trade agreements between Indonesia and Chile, particularly to encourage greater involvement of business players from the regions. This was emphasized by Indonesian Ambassador to Chile, Muhammad Anshor, during his meeting with government officials and business players in Valdivia, Los Ríos Region, on 11-12 July. Ambassador Anshor noted that this aligns with the significant increase in trade volume and value between Indonesia and Chile following the implementation of the Indonesia-Chile Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IC-CEPA) in 2019. The working visit to Valdivia was also conducted to invite stakeholders in the region to participate in the Indonesia-Latin America and Caribbean Business Forum (INA-LAC) to be held in Lima, Peru, from 11-13 September, and to visit the Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) in Indonesia on 9-12 October.
During the visit, Ambassador Anshor met with the Valdivia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the President of the Osorno Agricultural and Livestock Society (SAGO), the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Austral University of Chile, and the Director of Prochile Los Ríos. Ambassador Anshor acknowledged the promising resources and sectors in the Los Ríos economy, including agriculture, livestock, services, and tourism. He outlined collaboration opportunities and emphasized the interest in expanding trade and economic cooperation. This initiative is expected to strengthen the economic ties between Indonesia and Chile, leveraging the potential of regional businesses and fostering mutual growth through enhanced trade engagements.
