Halal Certification Strengthens Indonesia's Halal Logistics Ecosystem

PT Adi Sarana Armada Tbk (ASSA) is expanding the capacity of its subsidiary, Cargoshare Logistics, to strengthen the supply chain network for its customers. Recently, Cargoshare Logistics obtained a halal certification to meet the diverse market demands and reinforce the halal ecosystem in Indonesia. Suyanto Tjoeng, Director of Logistics at ASSA, announced that the company received its halal certification in November 2023. This certification is crucial for accommodating the needs of Indonesia’s predominantly Muslim population, particularly in the delivery of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), which the company frequently handles. "Given that the majority of Indonesians are Muslim, we want to ensure the halal integrity of their daily consumed foods," Suyanto stated during a Cargoshare Logistics gathering in Cipete, South Jakarta, on Thursday, 11 July. As a certified halal business entity, Cargoshare Logistics guarantees that every logistical process, including the technology used, complies with all halal requirements. "Operationally, our system and technology ensure compliance with halal processes, such as confirming the historical use of vehicles to prevent contamination. If contamination has occurred, proper purification is required," he explained.

While Cargoshare Logistics continues to serve general logistics needs, they segregate halal goods to ensure the integrity of the process. "We still handle general logistics, but we segregate to guarantee the halal process for specific goods," Suyanto added. Cargoshare Logistics, as a transportation logistics service provider, operates in hundreds of locations across Indonesia. "We have around 1,800 vehicles and over 150 operational points nationwide. Our extensive network, warehouse management, distribution, and transport planning are supported by our technological advantages, which help us analyze and improve our customers' logistics processes," he said. With a steadily improving performance, Suyanto is optimistic about the future growth of Cargoshare Logistics in Indonesia's competitive logistics industry. "Considering the vast potential of the logistics business and the increasing demand for halal products, we are confident that Cargoshare Logistics can capture a growing market share," Suyanto concluded.
