The Indonesian government is committed to enhancing national connectivity to support economic growth and equitable development, with initiatives like the Cimanggis–Cibitung Toll Road in the Jabodetabek area. This toll road is expected to reduce travel time from Cimanggis to Cibitung to about 30-45 minutes, down from the previous 1-2 hours via arterial roads. Vice President K.H. Ma’ruf Amin, while inaugurating the 26.18-kilometer toll road at the Cileungsi River Bridge, emphasized that the integration of the Cimanggis–Cibitung Toll Road with the Jabodetabek toll network is anticipated to enhance inter-regional connectivity in the Jakarta area. This project, part of the National Strategic Program (PSN), is expected to boost economic efficiency and activities in the region, contributing to both regional and national economic development. He outlined three strategic steps: ensuring the toll road provides broad benefits to the public, enhancing supporting infrastructure such as access roads and public transportation, and promoting collaboration among stakeholders, including local governments, the private sector, and the community to improve living standards.
Furthermore, the Vice President stressed the importance of implementing environmental, social, and governance principles in toll road construction, ensuring infrastructure projects consider economic, environmental, and social aspects. The improved travel efficiency is expected to reduce vehicle emissions, and there is a call for better toll road management, including maintenance and the development of rest areas. Lastly, the Vice President highlighted the importance of sustainability in toll road development, viewing it as a step towards achieving greater goals like prosperity and equitable development. The Cimanggis–Cibitung Toll Road is seen as a long-term economic opportunity that requires regular maintenance to realize its full potential and provide long-term investment value and economic justice for local communities. PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) CEO Edwin Syahruzad echoed this sentiment, affirming the company's commitment to sustainable development and rapid growth through innovative solutions. The involvement of PT SMI in PT Cimanggis Cibitung Tollways since 2022 is a testament to this commitment, aiming to accelerate infrastructure completion in Indonesia despite challenges like land acquisition in densely populated urban areas. The toll road is expected to facilitate smoother commuter and logistics movements in the Jabodetabek industrial area.
