East Kalimantan Tourism Office Enhances Capacity of Wastra-Fashion Creative Economy

The East Kalimantan Tourism Office (Dispar) is working to enhance the capacity of creative economy actors in the traditional fabric (wastra) and fashion sub-sectors in Kutai Kartanegara Regency.  "As a cultural city, Tenggarong plays a role in fostering works that reflect local wisdom. Hence, we are taking steps to develop the human resources in the creative economy sector, open to wastra and fashion actors residing in Tenggarong," said Head of East Kalimantan Dispar, Ririn Sari Dewi, in Samarinda on Monday. To advance the creative economy sector, Dispar Kaltim is organizing a workshop in Tenggarong on July 17-18, 2024, aimed at enhancing human resource capacity in this field. The workshop is free of charge and is expected to serve as a collaborative platform for creative economy actors to share knowledge and experiences. She elaborated that this human resource strengthening is conducted collaboratively, involving all creative economy actors in wastra and fashion in the regency and city. This approach aims to create strong synergy between the government and industry players in developing local potential.

Additionally, Ririn emphasized the importance of well-integrated and well-planned human resource strengthening, both in quantity and quality. She hopes that the creative economy actors will improve their competencies and skills, enabling them to compete in an increasingly competitive market through this workshop. "This aligns with the main goals of the East Kalimantan Provincial Tourism Office in achieving optimal performance," said Ririn. For more information on the workshop and registration procedures, wastra and fashion actors in Tenggarong can contact the East Kalimantan Tourism Office in Samarinda or visit the relevant office in Kutai Kartanegara Regency. "With limited slots available, we urge participants to register promptly and take advantage of this opportunity," said Ririn. This initiative will not only enhance human resource capacity but also strengthen the network among creative economy actors and promote local cultural richness through wastra and fashion to the broader community. "With efforts like these, we are optimistic about becoming a leading creative economy center in Indonesia, while also improving community welfare through sustainable creative industry development," concluded Ririn.
