The Semarang Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office, Type Madya Pabean A (Bea Cukai Semarang), facilitated the inaugural export of PT Polygroup Manufaktur Indonesia (PT PMI) products to the United States. Located in the Kendal Special Economic Zone (KEK), the company successfully exported 7,431 cartons of Christmas trees valued at IDR 47.3 billion using 12 containers. Bier Budy Kismulyanto, Head of the Semarang Customs Office, praised PT PMI's achievement, emphasizing that it demonstrates the optimal use of facilities and support provided in the Kendal SEZ by business players. He highlighted that the Kendal SEZ supports industrial and trade growth in Central Java under Bea Cukai Semarang's supervision, boosting local economic growth and contributing significantly to the national economy through increased exports and job creation.

Bier expressed hope that PT PMI's success would inspire other companies to utilize SEZ facilities, fostering continued national economic growth through collaboration between the government, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders. He noted that with support from Customs and Excise, PT PMI's entry into the international market sets a precedent for other Indonesian companies, making exports a primary driver for a stronger, more competitive national economy. Previously, Acting Secretary General of the National Council of SEZs, Susiwijono Moegiarso, assured that the government continues to facilitate business players in developing investments in Kendal SEZ. One initiative is encouraging business players to utilize tax holidays with various incentives. Susiwijono expressed hopes that the Kendal SEZ will not only meet its targets but also significantly increase investment flows into Indonesia and contribute to the national economy. He mentioned that the implementation of facilities and incentives in SEZ includes the application for corporate income tax (PPh) reduction facilitated by the National Council of SEZs, as discussed during a meeting on Strategic Issues of Kendal SEZ and the Socialization of Corporate Income Tax Reduction Facilities in SEZ through Online Single Submission (OSS) in Semarang on February 27.
