The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Jambi Province reported that the export value of Jambi in May 2024 reached USD 211.85 million, marking a 12.70% increase compared to April 2024. Agus Sudibyo, Head of BPS Jambi, stated that the mining sector contributed 66.49% of the total exports from January to May 2024. Specifically, mining accounted for 66.49%, agriculture for 3.46%, and industry for 30.06% of the total exports. Exports through Jambi port amounted to USD 158.25 million, while those through ports outside Jambi totaled USD 106.50 million. Commodities from Jambi exported through Jambi port made up 49.73% of the total, while those through ports outside Jambi accounted for 50.27%. The primary export destinations included Singapore, Japan, Thailand, the United States, and China. Agus emphasized the significance of the mining sector in driving the province's export growth and highlighted the continuous support from the provincial government to enhance the export capabilities of local industries. The increasing global demand and higher commodity prices have contributed to this positive trend, underscoring the potential for sustained economic development in Jambi.
