Java Coffee Culture (JCC) is being held for the fourth time by the East Java Provincial Representative Office of Bank Indonesia (KPw BI Jatim). Acting Head of the East Java Provincial Representative Office of Bank Indonesia, Bandoe Widiarto, stated that JCC can enhance the competitiveness of coffee exports, particularly from East Java. The first pillar is corporatization, ensuring coffee producers have legal entities. The second pillar is capacity building through technical assistance. The third pillar is financing through mediation between producers and financial institutions (business matching). Bandoe confirmed that Bank Indonesia Jatim will provide technical support to enable financial institutions to assist coffee producers in East Java. Additionally, they are innovating in digital marketing. In business matching, which is the core of JCC, there will be meetings between aggregators and potential buyers. "Our target is IDR 16 billion in transactions during JCC this year," he said. Deputy Director of Bank Indonesia Jatim, Iqbal Reza Nugraha, explained that the transaction target for JCC this year is the same as in 2023.
However, the realization of transactions in 2023 exceeded the target. Business matching transactions reached IDR 25.63 billion from 70 buyers, and showcase transactions amounted to IDR 1.33 billion. "We are optimistic that this year will exceed IDR 16 billion because we are expanding collaboration for business matching by involving overseas KPw to attract potential buyers from abroad," said Iqbal. In addition, BI Jatim is also collaborating with communities and business associations and increasing the number of participating SMEs. Last year, there were 42 SMEs, and this year there are 45. The fourth JCC event carries the theme "Synergy in a Cup of Coffee: Unveiling Economic Potential and National Harmony." The event will take place along Jalan Tunjungan to the Old Town area, with the main event on July 7 at Jalan Tunjungan, Surabaya. JCC will also feature a series of events at the Peneleh Festival, including a Sapta Pesona implementation competition that encourages residents to creatively improve their neighborhoods. "Participants are local community members," Bandoe explained. Additionally, there will be the Peneleh Heritage Track, a tour to see historical sites in the Peneleh area in collaboration with travel agents.
