Kota Tangerang has achieved a prestigious milestone in the field of investment and economics, emerging as a top destination for foreign investors in 2023, surpassing major cities such as Bandung, Bekasi, Semarang, and Surabaya. Ruta Ireng Wicaksono, Assistant for Economic and Development Affairs of Kota Tangerang, stated that the positive trend in investment development has been consistently strong in the city. According to data released by the Ministry of Investment/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Tangerang, known as the “City of a Thousand Industries, Million Services,” successfully realized Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) worth USD 474 million or approximately IDR 7.7 trillion. This success is attributed to the collaboration among all sectors in creating a conducive and competitive investment climate. Investment in Kota Tangerang spans several strategic sectors, including industry, trade, property, and various services that significantly contribute to the city's economic growth.
Moreover, Kota Tangerang has shown continued positive trends in the first quarter of 2024. Recent data on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Domestic Investment (DI) indicate that the city realized investments of IDR 4.72 trillion or 32.87% (DI), and IDR 2.9 trillion or 63% (FDI) from the total target of IDR 14.36 trillion. These achievements highlight Kota Tangerang's strong appeal to investors, with foreign investors accounting for nearly 50% of the total investment realization last year. Additionally, the city boasts a thriving Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector, which serves as an alternative engine for business growth, investment, and economic advancement. As of June 2024, Kota Tangerang has 65,581 Business Identification Numbers (NIB) recorded in the Online Single Submission (OSS) system, underscoring its vibrant entrepreneurial environment.
