Holding BUMN Pangan ID FOOD continues to strengthen its fisheries business line as part of efforts to boost the national marine and fisheries sector. The VP of Corporate Secretary of PT Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia (Persero)/ID FOOD, Yosdian Adi Pramono, stated that ID FOOD, through PT Perikanan Indonesia, has prepared a strategic plan for developing the fisheries business. "One of the strategies includes increasing exports of value-added fishery commodities, expanding the customer base, and opening new export markets," he said in Jakarta, Monday (1/7). Yosdian explained that exports of value-added fishery commodities are being intensified through programs for exporting tuna loin and octopus. “Tuna and octopus are two leading commodities of PT Perikanan Indonesia that have been exported to several countries,” he elaborated.
In 2023, PT Perikanan Indonesia successfully increased its export volume by 97%, equivalent to 573 tons, to six destination countries by partnering with ten buyers. “This export growth reflects the company’s commitment to strengthening its fisheries business line as directed by the CEO of ID FOOD. Currently, Holding BUMN Pangan manages three main business lines: agriculture and agro-industry, livestock and fisheries, and trade and logistics,” he added. To date, PT Perikanan Indonesia's marine and fishery product exports have reached markets in 11 countries: the United States, Japan, Thailand, the Philippines, China, Vietnam, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, Australia, and Sri Lanka. “The commodities exported include octopus, tuna, skipjack, mackerel, glass perch, cuttlefish fillet, scad, and marlin,” Yosdian explained. Regarding fishing activities, PT Perikanan Indonesia focuses on seven main fishery commodities: tongkol, skipjack, tuna, scad, mackerel, Spanish mackerel, and cephalopods (octopus, squid, and cuttlefish).
