Preparations for the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia are progressing well. Erick Thohir, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), announced that the construction of the ceremony ground and the State Palace at the new capital, Nusantara in East Kalimantan, has reached 77.9%. With about a month remaining, Erick expressed optimism that they can meet President Jokowi's directive to complete the ceremony grounds and State Palace on time. Completed facilities include the grand guest plaza, the ceremony field, the lobby area, and the area with 34 pillar columns. The interior spaces, such as the credential room, the sacred flag room, and official event rooms, are nearly ready for use during the ceremonies and for welcoming state guests. Erick noted that the inaugural Independence Day celebration in the new capital would be attended by both domestic and international guests.
Novel Arsyad, CEO of PT PP, stated that they are confident in completing their projects in the new capital on time, especially the ceremony grounds and the State Palace for the Independence Day celebrations. In addition to PT PP, another state-owned enterprise, PT Waskita Karya, is responsible for other construction projects in the new capital. These projects include the Presidential Secretariat Building, which is 91.12% complete, the Ministry Coordinator Building 3 for political and security affairs at 80.14% completion, and the Ministry Coordinator Building 4 for human development and cultural affairs at 85.22% completion.
