Indonesian Cars in High Demand Across Multiple Countries

Indonesian-made cars are increasingly popular worldwide, with significant growth in exports recorded recently. According to the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), exports of completely built-up (CBU) vehicles reached 40,986 units in May 2024, marking a 34.3% increase from April 2024. This surge is driven by ten major manufacturers—Toyota, Daihatsu, Hyundai, Wuling, Suzuki, Honda, Mitsubishi, DFSK, Isuzu, and Hino—who produce a variety of models domestically for international markets. For instance, Toyota exported 14,206 units of models like Veloz, Avanza, Fortuner, Innova Zenix, and Yaris Cross, while Daihatsu shipped 9,018 units, including the Gran Max minibus, Mazda Bongo, and several Toyota models.

Other notable contributors include Suzuki, exporting 1,560 units of models like Ertiga and Carry Pickup to countries such as Brunei Darussalam and Saudi Arabia, and Honda, which exported 1,140 units of Brio and BR-V to the Philippines, Thailand, and Mexico. Mitsubishi's exports totaled 8,370 units, including models like Xpander and Pajero Sport, to regions like the Middle East and Africa. Hyundai's Cikarang plant exported 5,445 units of Creta and Stargazer, while Wuling and DFSK also made significant contributions with exports to various countries. This export boom underscores Indonesia's growing prominence in the global automotive industry, highlighting its potential as a key player in international markets.
