Acting Governor of West Java, Bey Machmudin, attended the kickoff event for the National Movement for Proudly Made in Indonesia (BBI) and Proudly Traveling in Indonesia (BBWI) at BIJB Kertajati, Majalengka Regency, on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. Bey expressed full support for both national movements, believing they could strengthen West Java's tourism, MSMEs, and creative economy sectors. Bey highlighted West Java's diverse and attractive tourist destinations, ranging from beaches and hills to mountains. Additionally, he praised the high quality of local MSME products, such as culinary items, crafts, and fashion. “We have many excellent tourist spots in West Java. Similarly, pride in Indonesian-made products is equally important, as the main goal is to develop the local economy,” he stated. He emphasized that the West Java Provincial Government is actively developing the tourism, MSMEs, and creative economy sectors. Alongside vigorous promotion of tourist destinations, the government is continually improving accessibility.
Furthermore, Bey stressed the importance of streamlined licensing processes to support tourism and creative economy events in West Java. “Licensing is key. The President has made it clear that there should be no complicated permits. I fully support the simplification of licenses to facilitate more activities,” he noted. Bey also mentioned openness to support from investors, artists, and craftsmen to boost the local tourism sector and industries in West Java. “We provide venues for exhibitions, cultural, and artistic events,” he added. Bey hopes that the BBI and BBWI movements will increase public interest in domestic tourism and local products, thereby strengthening Indonesia’s economy and culture, particularly in West Java. “I urge all elements of West Java society to continue supporting local MSME products. We not only accelerate the people's economy but also appreciate local entrepreneurs for providing quality products,” Bey said. “By purchasing local products and traveling within Indonesia, we can enhance economic growth, create jobs, and more,” he concluded.
