Jambi Customs, in collaboration with the Animal, Fish, and Plant Quarantine Center of Jambi Province and Pelindo Regional 2 Talang Duku Port, launched the first export of 36 tons of split betel nut from Jambi to the Bangladesh market. This export, conducted by PT Alfa Indo Asia on Friday, June 21, 2024, marks a significant milestone in local economic development and reinforces Jambi's position as a producer of high-quality split betel nuts. Wijang Abdillah, Head of Jambi Customs, stated that this inaugural export is the result of extensive efforts and collaboration facilitated through the export clinic program organized by Jambi Customs in partnership with PT Alfa Indo Asia. “Through the Export Clinic program, we mentor and guide MSMEs to help them grow and penetrate international markets. The first export by PT Alfa Indo Asia is one of the outcomes of these efforts,” he said.
The success of this export also stems from the synergy between various stakeholders, including the Animal, Fish, and Plant Quarantine Center of Jambi Province and Pelindo Regional 2. This collaboration is crucial in ensuring smooth processes and compliance with export regulations, ultimately leading to successful exports and economic improvement for the people of Jambi. “Hopefully, this inaugural export will not only mark a positive beginning but also open new opportunities for local farmers to increase their income through the export of premium commodities. We are committed to supporting and facilitating the growth of exports from Jambi, thus expanding the downstream processing of export commodities in Jambi Province,” Wijang concluded.
