Japan Becomes the Largest Export Destination for West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), with Non-Oil and Gas Mining as the Main Commodity

In May 2024, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province recorded a trade surplus of USD 404.14 million, attributed to a notable increase in exports compared to imports, as reported by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The total export value from NTB surged by 50% from April 2024, reaching USD 503.02 million. Japan emerged as the largest export destination with 40.98%, followed by India at 38.92%, and South Korea at 19.25%. The primary exported commodities were non-oil and gas mining products, accounting for USD 497.47 million or 98.90% of total exports. Other significant exports included jewelry and gemstones at USD 3.28 million (0.65%), fish and shrimp at USD 1.81 million (0.36%), and salt, sulfur, and lime at USD 235,510 (0.05%). Moreover, NTB's import value in May 2024 totaled USD 98.88 million, marking a decrease of 35.35% compared to the previous month's USD 152.96 million. This data underscores NTB's robust economic performance and growing trade balance surplus, indicating positive economic momentum driven by substantial export growth and moderated import activity. The significant year-on-year export increase of 12.76% compared to May 2023 further highlights NTB's resilience and competitiveness in international trade, positioning it favorably within the Indonesian economy.
