Indonesia to Promote Plantation Products to Saudi Arabia

Director General of Plantation (Dirjenbun) at the Ministry of Agriculture, Andi Nur Alam Syah, emphasized the upcoming exhibition's comprehensive agenda, which includes diverse activities like "taste the flavor" sessions for sampling various plantation products such as palm sugar, coffee, tea, cocoa, and more. These initiatives are crucial for effective and sustained promotion aimed at enhancing Indonesia's image and introducing its plantation products to a global audience. The event builds on the success of Indonesia Expo 2018 in Jeddah, which saw transactions worth approximately IDR 200 billion and attracted over 13,000 visitors. It aims not only to foster economic trade cooperation but also to facilitate investment opportunities between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, along with other Middle Eastern nations. The exhibition seeks to expand exports of agricultural commodities, plantations, horticulture, livestock, fisheries, agricultural machinery, and food products to Saudi Arabia and the broader Middle East, tapping into Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 initiative to bolster its economy and business networks.

Prayudi Syamsuri, Director of Processing and Marketing of Plantation Products (PPHBun), stressed the strategic importance of effectively promoting Indonesian plantation products in Saudi Arabia to strengthen Indonesia's position in global trade. This effort is crucial given Saudi Arabia's significance as a major destination for Indonesian agricultural exports, amounting to USD 533 million in 2023. The export portfolio includes palm oil, coconuts, cocoa, cloves, betel nuts, coffee, tea, nutmeg, cinnamon, soybeans, rice, cassava, chili peppers, pineapples, ornamental plants, poultry, and more. With Saudi Arabia serving as a gateway to other Middle Eastern markets, leveraging Indonesia's large population, including Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, as ambassadors for Indonesian products becomes pivotal. The ongoing Saudi Arabian Vision 2030 initiative underscores its commitment to economic dynamism and expanded business collaborations, presenting Indonesia with ample opportunities to penetrate and expand its presence in this promising market.
