Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno participated in the Executive Council UN Tourism Meeting in Barcelona, Spain, where he focused on discussing investment opportunities in Indonesia's tourism sector with representatives from several countries. The bilateral meetings aimed to foster cooperation and attract investments to enhance the quality and sustainability of Indonesia's tourism industry. Sandiaga underscored tourism as a promising sector, contributing approximately 8% to Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). He emphasized Indonesia's cultural diversity and natural beauty as pivotal assets that could propel tourism to become a key driver of economic growth, offering substantial employment opportunities across the country.
During the meetings, Sandiaga advocated for investments in Indonesia's five super-priority tourism destinations and highlighted the importance of developing human resources and fostering collaborations to ensure a high-quality, sustainable tourism sector. He assured representatives from Spain, Tanzania, Nigeria, and Saudi Arabia about the benefits of investing in Indonesia's tourism, not only for economic gains but also for social and environmental sustainability. These discussions aimed to solidify partnerships and attract investments that could harness Indonesia's tourism potential comprehensively, ensuring that the sector continues to contribute significantly to the nation's economic development while preserving its cultural and environmental heritage.
