Foreign Investors Ready to Invest IDR 45 Trillion in IKN Nusantara

Agung Wicaksono, Deputy for Funding and Investment at OIKN, announced that nine companies are prepared to invest in the new capital city of Nusantara (IKN), with a total investment value of IDR 45 trillion. These companies include firms from Indonesia as well as three foreign countries: Malaysia, China, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). While Agung did not specify the number of companies from each country, he confirmed that these companies have moved beyond expressing interest and have been directed to proceed to the feasibility study stage. This development was shared during a press briefing at the Indonesian Parliament Complex in Jakarta on June 10.

Additionally, Agung noted that the total investment in IKN has reached IDR 51.3 trillion, a sum accumulated through various groundbreaking activities led by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) up to the sixth phase. This investment figure represents private or direct investments. The government is accelerating the development of IKN, aiming to host the Indonesian Independence Day ceremony on August 17 in the new capital. However, the development is facing challenges, particularly related to land issues. Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), revealed that 2,086 hectares of land for infrastructure development in IKN are not yet cleared. AHY emphasized the importance of resolving land issues in compliance with regulations to ensure that local residents are adequately addressed.
