The Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI) is enhancing the competitiveness of exporters in East Java, driven by the region's growing global market presence. "East Java currently boasts over 2,500 exporters reaching 200 countries, including the United States, Japan, Switzerland, Singapore, and China. This achievement is the result of solid collaboration between ministries, agencies, businesses, and the entire export ecosystem of East Java," said LPEI Chief of Region, Anton Herdianto, in a written statement on Monday, 10 June 2024. He added that East Java's rapid economic and export growth positions the province strategically in the national economy. East Java contributes 14.46% to Indonesia's GDP and 25.07% to Java Island's Regional Gross Domestic Product (PDRB). According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), East Java's economy grew by a notable 4.81% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2024. The province's export value in March 2024 increased by 39.10% compared to February 2024, totaling USD 2.51 billion. Recognizing East Java's strategic value, LPEI organized the East Java Export Forum 2024. The forum addressed various export-related issues, focusing on the future prospects of East Java's exports, and highlighted government programs and LPEI products designed to support exporters. These include the Special Export Assignment (PKE) programs like PKE Trade Finance, PKE Kawasan, and PKE Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices.
Iwan, Head of the East Java Industry and Trade Office, emphasized the region's immense potential in agriculture, plantations, and fisheries. While China, the United States, and Japan remain key export markets, there are untapped opportunities in other countries. To capitalize on these opportunities, synergy between the government, businesses, and strategic export partners is essential to establish East Java as a leading exporter of top commodities. "Boosting exports is crucial for economic growth. East Java is the second-largest export contributor in Indonesia, following West Java. Exporting top commodities helps businesses grow, increases regional revenue, generates foreign exchange, and strengthens East Java's role as a national economic pillar," Iwan stated. Anton Herdianto affirmed that LPEI is committed to supporting exporters through financing, guarantees, insurance, and consultancy services. "Our proactive approach aims to provide the right solutions and meet the expectations of exporters," he concluded.
