The Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) has announced that the total investment in the development of the new capital city, Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN), has reached IDR 51.3 trillion. Agung Wicaksono, Deputy for Funding and Investment at OIKN, stated that this investment is the cumulative result of groundbreaking activities conducted by President Joko Widodo over six phases. "Overall, investment in IKN is progressing steadily. President Jokowi has conducted six groundbreaking ceremonies, demonstrating significant investment inflow into IKN. The total so far is IDR 51.3 trillion, mainly from private or direct investment," Agung mentioned during an interview at the DPR RI Complex, Jakarta, on Monday, 10 June.
Agung also noted that several investors have entered through the Government-to-Business Cooperation (KPBU) scheme. "From interest and commitment to the current stages, nine companies are conducting feasibility studies (FS) as part of the investment process," Agung said. "Among them, there are investors from three foreign countries, amounting to approximately IDR 45 trillion," he added. He specified that the countries involved in the FS stage include Malaysia, China, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). "Those in the FS stage are Malaysia, which is geographically close to IKN in Kalimantan, China, both focusing on housing projects, and the UAE, which is investing in renewable energy," Agung elaborated. The involvement of these international investors highlights the global interest in the IKN project, which aims to transform Indonesia’s new capital into a major hub of economic and infrastructural development.
