Batu City Exports Ornamental Plants to China, Achieves IDR 150 Million in Sales

The "Song of India," a popular ornamental plant from Batu City, has been exported to China. A total of 3,500 plants, valued at IDR 150 million, were exported by CV. Kusuma Wijaya Plant from Sidomulyo Village, Batu District. The export ceremony took place at the Sidomulyo Village Rest Area on Monday, 3 June, and was officiated by the Acting Mayor of Batu, Aries Agung Paewai. Aries expressed his delight that residents of Batu City are successfully exporting local superior products. He highlighted the immense potential of ornamental plants from Batu City in international markets, particularly in Asia due to the suitable climate. "We are very pleased that our citizens have the potential to be exporters. This is part of our effort to continue promoting and developing Batu City's superior products to meet international market demands," said Aries. To support this initiative, the Batu City Government and Malang Customs are committed to collaborating and resolving any issues that arise. "The Batu City Government and Customs, through their Export Clinic, will work together to address any challenges faced by SMEs during the export process," Aries added.

The export ceremony was also attended by Erifina Lucky Kristian, Head of Foreign Trade Development at East Java's Industry and Trade Department, and Dwi Prasetyo Rini, Chairman of Malang Customs' Export Clinic. Erifina emphasized the government's strong support for exporting SMEs, noting that East Java's export performance in the first quarter has contributed 10%, or USD 2.5 million, to overall economic growth. "East Java's ornamental plant exports have reached USD 1.4 million, entering markets in Singapore, Denmark, and the Netherlands," explained Erifina. Various programs by East Java's Industry and Trade Department, such as Foreign Trade Missions, Export SME Assistance, and Export Festivals, also support export activities. "This export release brings fresh hope for entrepreneurs, and we all hope it will be successful and continue," Erifina added. Dwi Prasetyo Rini noted that this is the third export from Batu City. Malang Customs' Export Clinic, which includes 400 SMEs from the Malang area, offers Export Classes to support these efforts. "We appreciate the support from Batu City Government, and Customs is ready to support future exports from Batu City," said Dwi. Batu City's top export products include fruit and vegetable chips, coconut shell pots produced by Kokedama, and ornamental plants.
