The construction of Nusantara Capital City (IKN) remains committed to using 'green cement' supplied by PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG), aligning with the city's principles of energy efficiency and low carbon emissions. "The Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) aims to promote the supply of locally-based material resources and construction equipment. This supports sustainable infrastructure development," stated Secretary-General of the Ministry of PUPR Mohammad Zainal Fatah on Monday, June 3, 2024. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among various state-owned enterprises (BUMN) to realize sustainable development, highlighting the partnership between SIG and PT Bina Karya (Persero) for the provision of eco-friendly cement.
SIG's President Director Donny Arsal explained that green cement produces lower carbon emissions compared to conventional Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) during the production process. He noted that their production of green cement has resulted in a carbon emission reduction of up to 38% per ton. Additionally, SIG offers added value through efficiency guarantees for supply availability and timely delivery. "SIG has the advantage of an extensive production and distribution network that can meet the construction needs throughout Indonesia," he said.
