Indonesian Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan, encouraged micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to leverage the current economic growth momentum for their development. He made these remarks while inaugurating the National Coordination Meeting of the Central Executive Board of the Nahdliyin Entrepreneurs Association (HPN) in Bandung, West Java, on Saturday, June 1, 2024."We are grateful that Indonesia's economic development is better this year than last year. This is a moment for MSMEs to improve, advance, and grow because this year is easier compared to last year," said Zulkifli Hasan, as quoted in a press release from the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) on Saturday. In 2023, Indonesia's economy grew by 5.05%, with inflation maintained at around 2.61%. Additionally, Indonesia's trade balance saw a surplus of USD 36.91 billion and has been on a surplus trend for 48 consecutive months, from May 2020 to April 2024. Minister Zulkifli Hasan also urged MSME entrepreneurs to continuously enhance their capacities to tackle future economic challenges. "To advance, we must change, be trained, and get accustomed to new practices. Through HPN, we learn and start practicing so that in the coming years, entrepreneurial spirit will develop. We must not be left behind," he stated.
