LPEI Implements Digital Transformation to Elevate SMEs

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) contribute 61% to Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP), amounting to IDR 9,580 trillion. In response, Indonesia Eximbank, also known as the Indonesia Export Financing Agency (LPEI), is encouraging SMEs to advance by producing superior, export-oriented, and competitive products. One of LPEI's initiatives is to develop an export ecosystem through digital transformation, enhancing the global competitiveness of SMEs. LPEI Executive Director, Riyani Tirtoso, stated that LPEI is developing a digital platform aimed at creating an SME ecosystem that connects these businesses with buyers. This digital platform is scheduled to launch in August 2024. "We realize we must go digital to advance to the next level. With the platform, it will be easier to connect not only sellers with support buyers but also many stakeholders," Riyani said to the media on Saturday, June 1, 2024.

Riyani also mentioned that the evolving SME export ecosystem is expected to contribute to the country's foreign exchange reserves and create jobs. Currently, SMEs employ 117 million people. "Ultimately, this will undoubtedly increase the country's foreign exchange. By increasing the capacity of SMEs through curation and incubation, they can sell their products and generate foreign exchange," Riyani explained. To further this goal, LPEI is hosting the #BeraniMendunia Forum to boost Indonesia's economy by leveraging the business ecosystem and digital platform. This initiative addresses the need for reliable partners, effective use of digital platforms, and faster, more accurate access to the global market.
