Arsjad Rasjid, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), identified three strategic economic issues that the new government must address in the next five years. “These issues are optimizing strategic sectors to drive growth, strengthening the capacity of national SMEs, and enhancing the welfare of the middle class,” said Arsjad during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday, 22 May 2024. Arsjad emphasized that Indonesia's ability to tackle these issues is crucial for achieving the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision. To reach this goal, it is essential for the government, businesses, and all stakeholders to synergize and collaborate. Kadin Indonesia is preparing a whitepaper with proposals and input from business actors, investors, and academics across various sectors and regions to support the government's development agenda for 2024-2029. “The proposals from Kadin aim to strengthen and succeed the 2024-2029 development programs and support the implementation of the Asta Cita and 17 priority programs of President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka,” Arsjad stated. He added that this initiative reaffirms Kadin's commitment to realizing the Vision Indonesia Emas 2045, which aims for Indonesia to become a developed country and escape the middle-income trap.
The whitepaper will contain economic proposals to be submitted to the government, serving as a reference for medium-term economic development planning. In addition to gathering input from industry associations nationwide, Kadin will involve investors, research institutions, universities, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders through surveys and discussions. Arsjad explained that the whitepaper's preparation will be inclusive and collaborative, involving all policymakers. It will include recommendations for focus areas that can accelerate economic growth and the implementation of the government's five-year priority programs. “The whitepaper aligns with the Roadmap Indonesia Emas 2045 launched by Kadin last year,” Arsjad noted. He concluded that Kadin Indonesia's Roadmap Indonesia Emas 2045 will guide businesses and complement the government's roadmap to achieve the Vision Indonesia Emas 2045.
