The Ministry of Trade showcased Indonesian food and beverage products at the Salon International de l'Alimentation (SIAL) Shanghai 2024 from May 28-30, 2024, as part of its commitment to expanding international markets and promoting the quality of Indonesian products worldwide. Deputy Minister of Trade Jerry Sambuaga emphasized the significance of Indonesia's participation in this exhibition, aiming to boost Indonesian food and beverage exports, particularly in Asia. Eight Indonesian companies participated in the Indonesia Pavilion, displaying various products such as instant noodles, coffee, bird's nest, cooking oil, tempeh, and snacks. The pavilion also featured traditional dance performances and "coffee cupping" sessions, allowing visitors to explore the diverse flavors and aromas of Indonesian coffee. With over 5,000 exhibitors across 70 international and 35 domestic pavilions, SIAL Shanghai 2024 offered a platform to showcase Indonesia's rich culinary heritage and increase its presence in the global market.
Additionally, Indonesia is set to participate in the China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2024 from November 5-10, 2024, at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai, further promoting Indonesian food and agricultural products. This expo, supported by the Chinese government annually, serves as a crucial opportunity for Indonesia to strengthen trade relations with China. Notably, Indonesia's major exports to China in 2023 included ferronickel, lignite, and coal, while imports from China consisted of smartphones, automatic data processing machines, and self-propelled bulldozers. The Ministry of Trade's initiatives underscore Indonesia's commitment to expanding its export markets, fostering international partnerships, and showcasing the diverse and high-quality products of the Indonesian archipelago on the global stage. Through participation in prominent international exhibitions like SIAL Shanghai and CIIE, Indonesia aims to elevate its position as a key player in the global food and beverage industry while strengthening its economic ties with major trading partners such as China.
