OECD to Conduct Economic Survey in Indonesia to Boost Investment

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) plans to assist Indonesia in enhancing its investment climate by conducting an economic survey to provide a comprehensive overview of the country's economic conditions. "This is part of OECD's support to improve Indonesia's investment climate and bring Indonesia on par with OECD member countries," stated Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto in a press release on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel, Tuesday, 28 May 2024. Airlangga mentioned that the survey would offer investors insights into the safety and convenience of investing in Indonesia.

The plan for the survey was conveyed by OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann during his meeting with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the Bogor Palace, West Java. "The President stated that we will form a team to accelerate the OECD membership process and integrate it with Indonesia's medium-term development plans," he explained. The government aims for Indonesia to become a permanent member of the OECD within the next three years. A concrete step in this direction is the preparation of an initial memorandum to be completed within the next 250 days. "The President has issued a Presidential Decree to form a national team for the preparation and acceleration of Indonesia's OECD membership," Airlangga added.
