PT Kamboti Rempah Maluku successfully exported 8,736 kilograms of nutmeg to the Netherlands last week, with a trade value of 84,084.5 Euros or approximately IDR 1.47 billion (at an exchange rate of IDR 17,504.43). "After undergoing extensive testing, 8.7 tons of nutmeg from Maluku owned by PT Kamboti Rempah Maluku were successfully exported to Europe," said Acting Head of the Customs and Excise KIP Section in Ambon, Yusuf Nasution, as quoted on Tuesday (28/5/2024). Customs and Excise Ambon explained that dozens of sacks containing nutmeg to be exported were first loaded onto the Meratus Pariaman ship and departed from Yos Sudarso Port, Ambon, to Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya.
Upon arrival, the sacks were transferred to export containers to be loaded onto the export ship bound for the Netherlands. "This exportation is concrete evidence of good collaboration and synergy between exporters, the Maluku Provincial Government, the Maluku Trade and Industry Office (Disperindag Maluku), BKHIT Maluku, and relevant agencies. To support increased exports from the Maluku region, Customs and Excise Ambon is committed to providing excellent services," emphasized Yusuf. According to GNFI records, PT Kamboti Rempah Maluku made its inaugural export of nutmeg seeds to Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on Wednesday (8/11/2023). A total of 8,978 kilograms of nutmeg were loaded into a 20-foot container, with an export value of 110,349.37 Euros or approximately IDR 1.84 billion. "This marks the first export to Rotterdam, the Netherlands, with nutmeg seeds as the commodity. Through this inaugural export, it is hoped that flagship export products from Maluku will be spurred to go international," said Acting Head of the Maluku Customs Regional Office, Djaka Kusmartata.
