ISNART Reports: Summer 2024 Bookings Surge, Exceeding 10 Million Nights (+16%)

Italian tourism is flourishing, showing robust growth in the spring months of March and April, with some sectors experiencing double-digit increases. ISNART's latest survey, utilizing the innovative Stendhal location intelligence tool, analyzed tourist flows during this period, recording 10 million visitors, over half of whom were foreigners. During Easter, regions like Veneto, Tuscany, Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, and Lazio garnered significant favorability, with coastal areas and major cities attracting nearly 3 million visitors each. These destinations solidify their positions as preferred choices, reaffirming their appeal as major tourist hubs.
ISNART's President, Loretta Credaro, anticipates a promising summer, citing the upcoming Jubilee 2025 and the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics as strategic opportunities for Italy's tourism industry. Coastal areas saw strong domestic demand, while major cities attracted European tourists, notably Sorrento and Jesolo among foreign travelers. Italian cities, including Rome, Venice, Milan, and Florence, remain highly attractive, collectively hosting over 2 million tourists during spring. Rome, Milan, and Rimini lead in domestic tourism. Projections for the summer are positive, with ISNART forecasting continued growth from the exceptional 2023 season. Already, 50% of rooms for June, July, and August have been booked, with 10 million nights reserved in private residences, reflecting a 16% increase from the previous year.
