The Jayapura Regency Government in Papua inaugurated a digital investment gallery to boost Papua's economic growth. This initiative, launched on Monday, May 27, is a collaboration between the Jayapura Regency Communication and Informatics Department (Diskominfo), the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), and PT Philips Indonesia Papua Region. Gustaf Griapon, Head of the Jayapura Regency Communication and Informatics Department, stated in Sentani on Monday that the purpose of the digital investment gallery is to support the ongoing digital literacy program. "The digital literacy program currently underway, conducted by the Jayapura Regency Communication and Informatics Department, aims to support the development of human resources in Papua, particularly in this region," he said. Griapon highlighted that the digital investment gallery aims to enhance the knowledge of Jayapura Regency residents about the Indonesian capital market industry. "This is marked by the opening of the IDX digital investment gallery in Jayapura Regency, which is expected to expand the network for disseminating information about investments and financing facilities in the capital market," he explained.
He further noted that the presence of the digital investment gallery would increase the number of investors in the capital market through financial literacy initiatives targeted at civil servants (ASN), the general public, and village officials. Additionally, Griapon mentioned that the digital investment gallery would support the empowerment of indigenous Papuans through corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs. "With the collaboration between the Communication and Informatics Department, the Indonesia Stock Exchange, and PT Philips Indonesia Papua Region, the community will benefit from business capital through CSR," he stated. Delila Giay, Assistant II for Economic and Development Affairs at the Jayapura Regency Regional Secretariat, welcomed the collaboration. "This is a progressive step by the Communication and Informatics Department to introduce stocks to ASNs and the public amidst current technological advancements, thereby enhancing their economy," she said. The inauguration of the digital investment gallery was accompanied by the launch of a capital market literacy and inclusion program for 1,000 ASNs and Jayapura Regency residents to become capital market investors.
