The Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the South Sumatra Provincial Government are collaborating to develop tourism and the creative economy through the empowerment of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). "Sustainable and targeted support from OJK can make MSMEs and tourism the main pillars of the national economy," said Aman Santosa, Head of the OJK Department of Literacy, Financial Inclusion, and Communication, in Jakarta on Friday. Aman stated that developing tourism and the creative economy is part of the National Movement Proud of Indonesian Products (BBI) and Proud to Travel in Indonesia (BBWI) 2024. The BBI and BBWI movements in Palembang reflect OJK's strong commitment to supporting government efforts in boosting the national economy, particularly through MSME empowerment. With the theme "Shop and Travel to South Sumatra," the BBI-BBWI South Sumatra Province targets several achievements, including digital platform training for MSMEs (Onboarding), a minimum of IDR 50 billion in MSME transactions during Harvesting events per region, at least 95% local product purchases by ministries/agencies/local governments from the national and local budgets, and 13.2 million domestic tourism trips in South Sumatra Province.
As part of the BBI/BBWI 2024 series, OJK and the South Sumatra Provincial Government have collaborated on various activities, including eight training sessions for MSMEs in 17 regencies/cities across South Sumatra, involving 1,373 MSMEs. Training topics include optimizing digital platforms for promotion and digital payments, the importance of legalities for MSMEs, and financial planning and reporting. Additionally, activities include intensive mentoring for all MSME trainees, services such as halal certification issuance, business identification numbers (NIB), and access to business financing, selection and appointment of the 50 best MSMEs from various categories, and awarding 5 Champion MSMEs from South Sumatra who will represent the province at the national level.
